What’s the best nursing rocking chair? With so many options available in the market today, shopping for a nursing rocking chair could  be a tough job.

If you’re a first time mom, it is advisable to choose a rocking chair that you can keep until another baby comes. After all, rocking chairs are made from sturdy wood and won’t wear out that easily.

Purchasing a rocking chair doesn’t have to be expensive. So before jumping into buying your own, it is wise to compare the prices, the materials and the features. Most importantly, it must be comfortable.

A nursing rocking chair could be a little expensive than a glider. So you need to choose a quality rocker for a lower price if that will be possible. Or better yet, look for sale offers from furniture shops that can cut down the chair’s price for at least 20 to 30 percent. Ideal rocking chairs can be very expensive but you can settle for something less with the same comfort.

For some mothers, a nursing rocker is better than a glider. Because of its classic design, a rocker can blend well among your furniture in the living room. When it’s no longer used for nursing your baby you can always put it in the living room as an additional furniture. I’m sure anyone can find it relaxing to rock himself to rest.

If you have extra bucks, you can have your nursing rocking chair customized. Choose a traditional design that will blend well in your nursery as well as your living room. Usually the size is made for average moms and if you’re tall and your arms and legs need extra room, then having it customized will be better. It will be so comfortable for both of you if you can keep your baby’s head in an angle that won’t cramp your arms. Just be sure you order it weeks before your last trimester or before your baby is born.

Unlike gliders which always come with cushions, some rockers are without cushions. But you can have padded backseat that can be detached and maybe padded arm rests too so you won’t feel the hard wood while holding your baby. Make sure that they can be cleaned and washed, and you have extra covers to replace the soiled one.

However, you can always find something according to your taste. Interestingly, I read a lot of moms who have used a simple but comfy Ikea Poang rocking chair. It’s better than glider, one mom said. The arms are fixed and the baby could not bang them off.
